The Project
My COM S 309 class project was to create a mobile app that would allow local musicians to host and advertise concerts. Riff Radar breaks the barrier to hosting concerts, so musicians of all size can host concerts. To accomplish this, we utlized the Ticket Master API to show users large concerts on the samme plane as our users' concerts.
Contributions
I contributed most to the Frontend of the app. I made screens, and suggested lots of features. I believe my initiative and creativity helped create an app with a lot of unique and helpful features. These features included the TicketMaster API, a way to search by location, and a song preview enabled by the Spotify API.
Since the begenning of creating Riff Radar, I spent a lot of time on my portion of the project. This resulted in usable and visually appealing screens. I also collaborated with the backend, and the overall direction of the app.
This was my first experience with Git, and I learned a lot. I learned a lot more during my first internship, but this project created familiarity with the concepts involved in managing a Git project. I also learned a lot about software development practices as they were necessary to create a project of this size. Assigning responsibilities, and creating a timeline were very helpful to keep the project moving. However, I also learned that these workflows shouldn't be the focus of a project, and passionate team members are a lot more helpful than a strict timeline.
The final project can be seen on my GitHub, here, or through our final presentation, here.
